Welcome from the Director
I welcome you to Doshisha International School, Kyoto an IB World school for grades 5-12.
I am from New Zealand, "Go All Blacks!".
Over 35 years I have worked in schools in NZ, Indonesia, Kenya, China, Senegal, and now Japan. I am very proud to be a member of the Doshisha family and look forward to sharing with you our amazing gem of a school.
DISK is proud of its diverse staff who endeavor to expose students to a wide range of learning experiences. Our faculty come from Australia, Canada, Holland, India, Japan, NZ, South Africa, Sweden, UK, and USA.
Founded in 2011, DISK is one of the newer international schools in the Kansai area with the backing of one of the oldest and most respected names associated with higher education in Japan, Doshisha.
DISK offers an immersive international education led by a diverse and highly skilled team of educators. Students learn in small classes and enjoy both local and transnational units of inquiry.
DISK provides students with an opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and comfortable environment that encourages attention to the understanding of others. We are focused on developing the attitudes and competences needed to take part in a global community.
The DISK learning environment is one of commitment to research based best practice instructional strategies, making learning visible through the systematic collection and analysis of student performance results, and a firm belief that significant and meaningful relationships between teacher and student are the foundation on which learning is built.
DISK is a Candidate for Accreditation. Approved by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
