Director's Welcome

Picture
A very warm welcome to Doshisha International School Kyoto (DISK).

Founded in 2011, DISK is one of the newer international schools in the Kansai region, fully supported by one of the oldest and most respected educational institutions in Japan, Doshisha.

DISK is proud of its diverse faculty including Australia, Canada, India, Japan, NZ, South Africa, Sweden, the UK, Colombia, Spain and the USA. The diversity enables students to gain a wide range of learning opportunities and equips them for an ever-evolving globalised society.

DISK offers an immersive and compatible international educational curriculum led by a team of dedicated professionals. Students learn in small classes and enjoy both local and transnational units. Our extended community partnerships enable students to voice their choices by demonstrating the attributes of the IB learner profile.

DISK provides students with an opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and comfortable environment that encourages attention to the understanding of others. We focus on developing the attitudes and competencies needed to participate in a global community.

The DISK learning environment is one of the commitments to research-based instructional strategies, making learning visible through the systematic collection and analysis of student performance and results, and a firm belief that meaningful relationships between teacher and student are the foundation on which knowledge is built.

DISK is a fully accredited school by the International Baccalaureate Organisation for the Diploma Programme and an approved candidate school for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
